Helping High-Achieving Men Reclaim Their Energy & Confidence Through Simplicity, Standards, and Identity

Helping High-Achieving Men Reclaim Their Energy & Confidence Through Simplicity, Standards, and Identity

Let’s be honest, most of us who are chasing high performance are already showing up strong in some areas of life. We lead companies, build careers, manage teams, and juggle family demands. But when it comes to our health, energy, and confidence? That’s often where things start to slip.

On the latest episode of GrowthReady Podcast, I sat down with high-performance health coach Luke DePron for a conversation that goes way beyond meal plans and gym sessions. This is about standards. Identity. And most of all, simplifying your way into sustainable greatness.

“You’re Supposed to Suck First.”

That’s what Luke said when I asked him about being Growth Ready. His idea of adopting a beginner’s mindset hit me hard. We talk about failing like it’s just a buzzword, “fail forward,” “fail fast”, but do we really allow ourselves the grace to be bad at something new?

Luke reminded us that confidence is built through competence, and that means checking small boxes consistently. You don’t earn belief by saying you’ll change. You earn it by actually doing the thing. Even if it’s just two workouts this week.

That’s a high-performance mindset, not in doing it all, but in doing what you said you would do.

Flatten the Mountain: Simplify Everything

Whether you’re an exec staring at a 30-pound weight loss goal or a dad who wants to play with his kids without feeling winded, the strategy is the same: Simplify. Flatten the mountain. Break it down to guaranteed minimum standards, those non-negotiables that are realistic, sustainable, and tailor-made for your life.

Luke doesn’t throw you into a six-day-a-week plan. He works with you to find the standard that fits your reality. Because high performance isn’t about intensity, it’s about consistency.

“We judge the standard. Not the stretch goal.” – Luke DePron

Stop Wasting Leverage

This hit me like a freight train. Luke explained that if you’re making progress, whether in body comp, energy, or performance, don’t waste your extra cards. Don't go from 3 workouts to 6 just because you’re excited. Let your body (and mind) adapt. Play your best card when you need it, not just because it’s available.

That’s strategy. That’s sustainability.

Anchor Your Why in Identity

Knowing your "why" is powerful. But living it through your identity is transformational.

You want to be the fit dad? Then start acting like one. Not by perfection, but by consistent alignment. You want to show up for your team, your business, your family? Then show up for yourself first.

“Fit dad doesn’t eat leftover mac & cheese off his kid’s plate.”
“Fit CEO doesn’t skip workouts for endless meetings.”
“Fit leader knows rest and recharge are part of the system.”

If you're the kind of man who wants to lead from the front in business and in life, then it's time to upgrade how you treat your health, energy, and performance.
